چکیده

Efficient Bayesian inference remains a computational challenge in hierarchical models. Simulation-based approaches such as Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods are still popular but have large cost. When dealing with the class of Latent Gaussian Models, INLA methodology embedded R-INLA software provides accurate by computing deterministic mixture representation to approximate joint posterior, from which marginals computed. The approach has beginning been targeting univariate posteriors. In this paper, we lay out development foundation tools for also providing approximations subsets latent field. These inherit copula structure and additionally provide corrections skewness. same idea is carried forward sampling representation, now can adjust

Generic Inference in Latent Gaussian Process Models

We develop an automated variational method for inference in models with Gaussian process (gp) priors and general likelihoods. The method supports multiple outputs and multiple latent functions and does not require detailed knowledge of the conditional likelihood, only needing its evaluation as a black-box function. Using a mixture of Gaussians as the variational distribution, we show that the e...

Perturbative corrections for approximate inference in Gaussian latent variable models

Expectation Propagation (EP) provides a framework for approximate inference. When the model under consideration is over a latent Gaussian field, with the approximation being Gaussian, we show how these approximations can systematically be corrected. A perturbative expansion is made of the exact but intractable correction, and can be applied to the model’s partition function and other moments of...

Fast Dual Variational Inference for Non-Conjugate Latent Gaussian Models

Latent Gaussian models (LGMs) are widely used in statistics and machine learning. Bayesian inference in non-conjugate LGMs is difficult due to intractable integrals involving the Gaussian prior and non-conjugate likelihoods. Algorithms based on variational Gaussian (VG) approximations are widely employed since they strike a favorable balance between accuracy, generality, speed, and ease of use....

NORGES TEKNISK - NATURVITENSKAPELIGE UNIVERSITET Bayesian computing with INLA : new features by Thiago

The INLA approach for approximate Bayesian inference for latent Gaussian models has been shown to give fast and accurate estimates of posterior marginals and also to be a valuable tool in practice via the R-package R-INLA. In this paper we formalize new developments in the R-INLA package and show how these features greatly extend the scope of models that can be analyzed by this interface. We al...
